iTunes Japan

iTunes logoSo, you’re dying to download JURIAN BEAT CRISIS songs but don’t know how to do it without being conscience-stricken or without actually living in Japan? Not to worry, this guide will show you how to buy JURIBE and other Japanese music from the iTunes store of Japan. All that is required is at least $24 USD and lack of care about following rules.

  1. Go to the iTunes Japan store. If you don’t know how to do this, read the sub-steps.
    1. Go to the normal iTunes store.
    2. On the bottom right of the homepage, you will see a round flag button. Click it.
    3. On the bottom of the following page, you’ll see a Japanese flag button. Click it. Voila.
  2. Go to the App Store and click “Get App” on the first free app you see. A login window will appear; click on “Create New Account”.
  3. Press continue; agree to the terms and conditions and press continue again.
  4. Pick out your email, password, question, and enter your date of birth. Your email must not be an email registered to an iTunes account on any other iTunes store. Press continue.
  5. On the next page, the payment option “None” should be selected. Skip the iTunes Gift Card input for now. For the names, you can have the same thing for normal and phonetic name, and it does not need to be in Japanese.
  6. Now for the fun part! You might think that you need to be in Japan to register, since you need a Japanese address. But in reality, any address on the face of Japan works. I personally used the address of a hotel I found online. Same goes for a telephone number. I has to be real, but it can be anything. There’s more than a 99% chance that iTunes will never contact you through your physical address or phone number.
  7. After you’ve registered and confirmed, the last thing you need to do is add funds to your account. Assuming you’re outside of Japan (if you weren’t, you wouldn’t be reading this guide), your one option is a Japanese iTunes card. They can be bought at various websites, but the best one in my opinion is Nihongo Pera Pera. Instead of sending you a physical card, NPP will send you a code by email to enter in the iTunes store. This is by a large margin the fastest and cheapest option if you’re outside of Japan. Although the website says delivery takes 24 hours, it took me a mere 30 minutes.
  8. Now back in the iTunes Japan homepage, click on “Redeem” link on the top-right. Just enter your code, and press Redeem. Now that your account is credited, you are free to buy anything from the iTunes Japanese store, including JURIBE.
